School Transportation Safety Reminder

The Copenhagen Central School District Transportation Department is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for all students.

Our school bus drivers are highly trained professionals who take great pride in safely transporting students to and from school and school activities each day.

Parents and guardians play an important role in helping students understand and follow bus safety expectations. Please take a few moments to review the following safety reminders with your child.

General Bus Safety Rules

Students should:

• Be at the bus stop on time

• Stand clear of the roadway until the bus comes to a complete stop

• Allow younger students to board first

• Avoid pushing or shoving while boarding

• Go directly to their seat after entering the bus

• Remain seated while the bus is moving

• Keep all body parts inside the bus at all times

• Refrain from eating, drinking, or chewing gum on the bus

• Look both ways before crossing the street after exiting

• Move away from the side of the bus immediately after getting off

• Never return to the bus for forgotten items

• Always follow the bus driver’s directions when crossing the road

• Return to the curb immediately if the driver sounds the horn, as this signals potential danger

Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder

For student safety, Loud Street is closed during morning and afternoon bus lineup times.

When dropping off or picking up students, please use:

• The upper parking lot loop

• The designated area in front of the school building

These procedures help ensure the safety of all students during arrival and dismissal times.
