About Copenhagen Central School

Copenhagen Central School is located in the scenic village of Copenhagen, New York, nestled between the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and the Tug Hill Plateau. Rich in history and tradition, Copenhagen is a community that values education and takes pride in supporting all members of its learning community.

Copenhagen Central School is a Pre-K through Grade 12 district housed in one building in the heart of the village. The district covers approximately 125 square miles across Jefferson and Lewis Counties and neighbors the Watertown, Lowville, Carthage, and South Jefferson school districts.

Our school serves approximately 500 students with the support of dedicated instructional and support staff. Small class sizes allow staff to provide individual attention while recognizing and encouraging each student’s unique talents, abilities, and goals.

The original school building was constructed in 1936, when the district centralized. Since then, building projects and program growth have helped Copenhagen Central School provide modern, technology-equipped facilities for students in the North Country.

Our facilities include:

  • A K–12 library

  • Two gymnasiums

  • Performing and visual arts classrooms

  • Distance learning space

  • Mobile learning labs

  • Computer labs

  • 21st-century equipped classrooms

At Copenhagen Central School, we are proud of our tradition, our community, and our commitment to preparing students for the future.
