2026 Capital Improvement Project
The Copenhagen Central School District’s 2026 Capital Improvement Project is a comprehensive $21 million investment focused on preserving district facilities, improving learning environments, and enhancing opportunities for students and the community.
Developed in partnership with LaBella Associates, the project addresses critical infrastructure needs identified through the district’s state-required Building Condition Survey. Planned improvements include:

Facility modernization and safety improvements
These upgrades are designed to maintain a safe, efficient, and modern educational environment for students, staff, and the community.
New Gymatorium & Student Spaces
A major highlight of the project is the construction of a new gymatorium, a flexible multi-purpose space that will support athletics, performing arts, and community events.
Planned features include:

Updated theatrical stage capabilities

Expanded event and spectator accommodations

Renovated locker rooms and fitness areas
The project will also improve spaces used daily by students and staff while preserving the district’s long-standing traditions and educational mission.

The project is structured to maximize New York State building aid and district capital reserve funds while avoiding additional local tax impact.

Community Approval
District voters approved the Capital Improvement Project on December 11, 2024, by a vote of 108 to 34.
