    Mrs. Jenelle TenEyck

    Pre-K Teacher

Before becoming a teacher, I spent 13 years as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, working with children from birth through age five. I have always been passionate about language development, early childhood, and the way young children learn best through play. That passion eventually led me to teaching, and preschool quickly became my favorite age! I love their curiosity, excitement, and joy for learning, and I feel lucky to help them grow during such an important time in their development.

    Miss Emily

    UPK-4 Teacher

Miss Emily began at Copenhagen Central School in 2013 as a Pre-K aide before launching the district's half-day “Pre-Knights” program for three-year-olds in January 2015. She later moved into UPK-4, which transitioned from a half-day program to the full-day Pre-K classroom she teaches today.

She enjoys creating engaging, play-based thematic units that allow young children to explore, build confidence, and experience the joy of learning. She considers it an honor to help provide many students with their first introduction to school and especially values seeing the extraordinary growth, curiosity, excitement, and enthusiasm that happen during the Pre-K years.

    Mrs. Jessica Spaulding

    Elementary School Teacher: 1st Grade

I am a dedicated elementary educator who believes that meaningful learning begins with strong relationships and a sense of belonging in the classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported. My goal as a teacher is to create a community in which students feel safe to ask questions, take risks, make mistakes, and develop confidence in themselves as learners.

My teaching career has given me experience working with students across a variety of grade levels, including 5 years as a first-grade teacher. I did my undergraduate studies at Saint John Fisher College and my graduate studies at SUNY Potsdam. Throughout my career, I have continued to grow as an educator through professional development, collaboration with colleagues, our mentoring program, and involvement within the CCS community.

I believe children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful experiences. I enjoy creating cross-curricular lessons that allow students to make connections between subject areas and explore learning through hands-on activities. I use student data and ongoing assessments to help me reflect on my instruction and adjust my teaching to meet the individual needs of my students. My focus is not simply on completing assignments and getting through curriculum, but helping my students develop a deeper understanding of what they are learning.

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is my belief that education is built on relationships and critical thought. I strive to know my students as individuals and create a classroom where they feel accepted, respected, and most importantly: connected to one another. I believe this sense of belonging gives children the confidence to explore and persevere through challenges all while becoming more active participants in their own learning.

I believe education is a partnership between students, families, educators, and the larger community as a whole. CCS is the cornerstone of our small community and building trusting relationships with families and maintaining open communication are important parts of my role as an educator. When children see that the adults in their lives are working together to support them, we are able to create a stronger foundation for both their academic and personal growth.

    Outside the Classroom

I grew up in Lowville, New York, and now call Copenhagen home, where I live with my husband, and our four children. Much of my time outside of school is spent cheering on my children as they participate in their many extracurricular activities. My husband and I both work at CCS which makes the connection to our community especially meaningful to our family. When I have some quiet time, I am happiest with a good book, writing, or learning more about a piece of history that has caught my interest. I also love being outdoors and going for walks. I enjoy learning about people, places, and the stories that connect us to the past. These interests are a big part of who I am and often find their way into my classroom and the experiences I create for my students.

She is committed to creating a mathematics classroom where every student feels supported, challenged, and valued. In addition to building strong math skills, she works to help students believe in themselves, connect learning to real-life situations, and see mistakes as a valuable part of problem-solving and growth.

I began my teaching career in Georgia while my husband and I were stationed at Fort Stewart. We relocated to Fort Drum in 2017, started our family of five, and I've been able to call Copenhagen Central School my home for the last 10 years. It is rare to find a student that loves math as much as I do, so I strive to keep kids engaged in a class they may not prefer, but also try to push them to reach their full potential in a subject they wouldn't normally expect!

    Teaching Focus

My classes are designed to not only increase my students' knowledge of mathematics, but also provide opportunities to grow a sense of independence and improve in time management. Students will build the problem-solving and critical thinking skills they need to be successful on any path after high school (and hopefully have fun along the way).

    Outside the Classroom

Outside of the classroom, I have three kids and a pup that keep me the most busy. When I find a spare moment, I really enjoy gardening, trying to perfect my calligraphy through side projects, and I love to read. I also play soccer, visit family in Buffalo when I can, and my favorite place is the beach or being out on the water. I consider myself a life-long learner and always try to research new things and broaden my horizons!

Oh yes, and of course, GO BILLS!

Over my 24 years as a high school math educator, I’ve had the privilege of teaching a wide variety of courses, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Math AIS, Accelerated Math, and Personal Finance. I love working with high schoolers because of their unique perspectives and the moment when a complex concept suddenly clicks for them. As an educator, I believe in fostering active learning and open communication; I encourage families to stay involved and walk alongside their students as they build strong mathematical foundations.

All students matter and have something unique to offer during discussions. Students have a voice, but they need to find the courage to use it in their written analysis and in their presentations. Every student can succeed when they know someone believes in them, but every student needs to make the effort. Most of all, students must think for themselves by deciding what they believe based on research and facts instead of relying on quick social media posts or AI generated content.

I am entering my fifth year as an educator at Copenhagen Central School, where I have had the opportunity to work in both English AIS and Special Education. This year, I am excited to make the switch to elementary special education, where I will be teaching a self-contained K–2 classroom. I am also a proud Copenhagen graduate, so being able to teach in the same community where I grew up is very special to me.

What I enjoy most about working with students is building relationships with them and figuring out what helps each individual child be successful. I truly believe that every student can learn and make progress, but that may look different for every child. I love celebrating the small successes just as much as the big ones and helping students become more confident and independent.

As an educator, I want families to know that I care deeply about the students in my classroom. I believe that strong communication and collaboration between school and home are extremely important, especially in special education. I will always advocate for my students, celebrate their strengths, and work hard to make sure they feel safe, supported, and successful at school.

Before moving into school administration, I spent seven years in the classroom teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Transitioning from teaching upper elementary into my time as Elementary Principal allowed me to see the learning journey from both sides of the desk—shaping my belief that every district initiative should directly support the magic that happens in the classroom.

    Working with Students

My favorite part of working with students has always been experiencing the world through their eyes. Children bring a natural sense of curiosity, wonder, and fresh perspective to everything they encounter. Teaching Focus

As I step into the role of Director of DoWEA Projects, I want our families to know that even though my daily work focuses on district-level initiatives and grants, my heart remains anchored in the classroom. Every decision, project, and program I oversee is rooted in one simple priority: doing what is best for our students and ensuring our military-connected families have the support, resources, and educational opportunities they deserve.
