openforum

District administrators will be holding a Community Forum at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, June 18 in the CCS Library to gather public input as we develop a district-specific policy in response to new legislation.

On May 9, Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law banning the use of personally owned, internet-enabled devices. This includes smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, and any other device that can connect to the internet. These devices may not be used from the start to the end of the instructional day. This includes hallway time between classes, study halls, lunch, and after-school activities held in the building. It should be noted that the ban does not apply to school-issued technology devices, such as Chromebooks or tablets that are used for instructional purposes throughout the school day.

Please note: This forum is not intended to debate whether the ban should be in place. That decision has already been made at the state level. The purpose of this forum is to gather feedback on how our District should implement the requirement.

We encourage all families, staff, and community members to attend and share their input.
